Let's take it back to about 24 years ago. The year of 1992 to be exact. Rodney Glen King III was one of the first known victims of police brutality and his story lives on till this very day. It all started in Los Angeles , California on March 3,1991. King was severely beaten by 4 LAPD officers suffering the extreme injuries of a fractured facial bone, broken right ankle, multiple bruises,lacerations, and permanent brain damage. The incident was filmed by witness George Holliday and sent to Ktla News station. The nation would suddenly become aware and this was only the beginning.

Here we are in 2016 and times have gotten worse as the years went by. Research shows that police killed at least 102 unarmed black people in 2015. In 2016 194 black people were killed by the police and this year have not came to a closure. When does it stop? When do people actually realize BLACK LIVES MATTER?! I feel like we need to take a stand because until we stop killing ourselves they will continue to kill us. My career choice is to become a detective. When i tell people that they all ask the same question “ Why would you wanna be a police officer and they are killing us left and right.” Well i wanna be the one to change my environment. I wanna be the one to save those innocent lives from being like Rodney King. The police are supposed to make us feel safe , they are suppose to protect our people from things harming or endangering us. Instead we are now fearing them. Mothers raise their children basically instilling in them to be sacred of the police, because any action no matter if it's right or wrong can lead to them being another face on a shirt. I don't know about you but that isn't the world i wanna live in let alone raise my kids in. Rodney king was innocent along with Sandra Bland, Alton Sterling, Michael Brown,Philando Castile, and Keith Scott. It's time for
