Police Officer Narrative

Good evening to all my fellow classmates, I am Jonathan Cavezza and I am currently employed with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department as a police officer. Additionally, I served on active duty for nine years in the Air Force as a Security Forces patrolman and instructor, and I am continuing my service in the Tennessee Air National Guard. Furthermore, I have been married for twelve years, and I have three sons and their ages are eleven, seven, and four. Since you all possess a general understanding of who I am, let me address that I have not completed an English composition class since high school. Previously, in order to obtain an associate’s degree from the Community College of the Air Force, I was able to pass the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) test for English Composition without writing an essay. Consequently, I am nervous about completing a college level English course; however, I feel confident I can perform well because I am almost complete with my degree program. Additionally, effective writing is a key component of being a police officer, and many police officers understand why they permitted to execute certain duties, but they struggle to articulate those actions into written words. Furthermore, the Navy Seals enhance their mental toughness through the forty percent rule, which means when your mind is telling you to quit, that you are physically exhausted, or completely depleted and cannot go any further, you are actually only forty percent done (Myers, 2017). Subsequently, I tell myself during times of intense physical and emotional exhaustion that I am only forty percent done, which empowers me to complete whatever task I am performing, whether is it a workout, work shift, or college
