In those electives comes study breaks, performing arts, and physical education. Instead of taking fun classes, I believe our school system should consider making it a requirement to take classes on important stuff like how to take the ACT. The ACT test is a must when applying to college. “According to the latest results of the organization’s standardized college entrance test, only 1 in 4 students qualify as prepared for college in all four subject areas: English, reading, math and science” (webley). So, instead of a PE class we can study, learn, and practice for the ACT. Another class high schoolers should be required to take to help them be more prepared is taking online classes. If we took further action teaching high schoolers how to deal, finance, and manage their money we could save the many Americans on big issues regarding money. “Financial education supports not only individual well-being, but also the economic health of our nation … Consumers who can make informed decisions about financial products and services not only serve their own best interests, but collectively, they also help promote broader economic stability” (Page). Many teens have jobs and pay taxes, and need to know how to fill out forms and file them themselves. Another example is learning how to save their money, so they can be able to buy a car or even a house. Teens who are considering paying for college need to be educated on how student loans work. There 's more than just taking money out, interest come along and repayment. Teens deserve to be introduced to complicated financial concepts by caring teachers charged with preparing them to make wise and informed decisions.
