The stem cell research compared with the classification of a person through Dosas is just proof in how much there is to be learned about Ayurveda and other traditional methods. The stem cell research is new to me and I am coming from a place of little wisdom on studies such as the Human Genome Project but if the evidence out there is connecting our bodies molecularly to the earth than we need to continue studying. I agree with Gadgil, (2009) that the Sanskrit language needs to be researched on much more. As stated in the paper a lack in the basic literature causes a misunderstanding of the entire system and be very harmful. Especially since more and more people are looking to holistic approaches. This usually entails home remedies. There is an entire network and over 600 herbs in just Rasayana (Balasubramani, 2011). So these practices really do need to be studied professionally. Once that happens then people who are not aware of the tradition can start successfully using the remedies at home. Another area that needs to be continued researching in is the educating of native Ayurvedic practitioners. In order to really implement this system into a clinical practice new methods in measuring protocols and therapies need to take place. This requires a new science. The doctors and scientist that practice their spirituality are the ones who seem to be researching integrative medicine. The articles I found were mostly written by those of Indian/Hindu heritage and felt that both western and Indian medicinal traditions are needed for optimal health.
