To make quick, sweet pickles, gather all of the necessary ingredients.� First, you'll need eight pounds of three- to four-inch pickling cucumbers.� Next, measure out 1/3 cup of canning or pickling salt and 4 � cups of sugar.� Pour 3 � cups of vinegar into a measuring cup.� You'll also require two teaspoons of celery seed, one tablespoon of whole allspice, and two tablespoons of mustard seed.� These measurements will yield seven to nine pints of pickles, so make sure you have enough storage jars.� Glass canning jars work best, come in � pint, one pint, and 1 � pint sizes, and have screw-on lids to ensure a tight seal.
