Processed Meat Is A Cause Of Cancer

The World Health Organization has announced that processed meat can cause cancer. The WHO report listed processed meat alongside alcohol, asbestos, arsenic and cigarettes as cancer-causing substances. It also classified red meat as "probably" carcinogenic, though there was limited evidence. But for many, the new guidelines won't stop them from tucking into something meaty.
We have probably seen today’s headlines, about the fact that processed meat has been classified as a definite cause of cancer. And red meat is a ‘probable’ cause. But a link between certain types of meat and some forms of cancer – notably bowel cancer. It is not new news, the evidence has been building for decades, and is supported by a lot of careful research.
