Pros And Cons Of Deer Hunting

Decent Essays
I had a conversation with my boyfriend about deer hunting over the weekend. We currently live on one hundred and four acres of land. Naturally, there are an enormous amount of deer on the property. My boyfriend, Jake, has his hunting license and loves to hunt. I, on the other hand, do not have my hunting license but would like to get it the near future. We discussed why we should hunt on the land we are living on. I started the conversation by saying how much I liked the sign above the garage that reads, “Deer View Acres.” The area we are living in has so many deer that the people who lived in the house before us made a sign that permanently named the house. Jake then continued the conversation by mentioning that our freezer should

Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook, San Bernardino, Columbine, Aurora. What if these events could have been stopped by someone through the means of legally having a concealed firearm? There is no explanation needed to why 2015 was a record year for background checks to own a gun in the United States. As a result, President Barack Obama along with several other politicians have called for a series of stricter gun control across the country and plans to take executive action to finalize new gun control laws. The topic of gun rights has been going on since the beginning of our country, and many citizens feel emotionally charged both ways. Little else has changed our history like firearms have, and the heritage and history of owning firearms in this country is no different. I believe that owning firearms is one of our constitutional rights, and that most of the arguments could be less heated with more education and knowledge of the use of firearms, and the enforcement of already existing laws. In the beginning of this country the founding fathers saw it important enough to include an entire amendment to our constitution allowing us as citizens to own guns.…

Many opponents of gun control argue that limits on gun ownership are unconstitutional because they violate the Second Amendment, which includes the phrase the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Opponents often emphasize the “shall not be infringed part while ignoring the other clause about the right being connected to a well regulated Militia but nobody’s perfect. Even emphasizing the right component, however, if we slow down and think about what an absolute right to bear arms would look like, it’s clear that even the people making the argument don’t believe in it. If the right to bear arms cannot be infringed, mentally ill felons can own nuclear weapons.…

Many topics in today’s society can be connected to the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. One of the more commonly brought up issues deals with guns. In the Declaration, this is the right to bear arms, while in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, it is known as the Second Amendment. In the past, this ability to own a gun was given to the people because colonists and founders wanted others to have a weapon to protect themselves in case the government became repressive. The people would be able to rebel against the government.…

Gun Control Gun control throughout recent years in the United States has been a very controversial and debated topic. Since the recent decades, many actions have been made to help prevent large shootings such as in Sandy Hook or Colorado. Such actions could be seen as early as in the Brady Bill which was passed in 1993 by Bill Clinton (“Brady Act” 1). Since this time, many more regulations have been put in place to protect America from horrible instances like these, but not much has changed according to the Department of Justice.
