I then would discuss with them the pros and cons of PAS. First, we would discuss whether they have been diagnosed with a terminal disease, how much pain they are in and other possible options. Secondly, whether the state we were in was a Death with Dignity state. If not do we have the finances to move or find another option. Once there request was official, if not mandatory, I would personally request a psychiatric review for my said family member to confirm no mental illness is present and that they are in fact in extreme pain. I think I would try to have a discussion with them to make sure they were in no way coerced by anyone, that someone had not made them feel like such a burden that they need to go through with this
