Pursuing My Bachelor's Degree Analysis

Improved Essays
Going back to school is something that has been on my agenda for many years, but the timing is finally right to pursue my bachelor’s degree. Previously, I earned my associate’s degree at a community college in Illinois. After getting married and having children, I spent the last seven years as a stay-at-home mom. With my children growing up and becoming more independent I have time to focus on myself and my goals. There is no specific time frame in which I plan to re-enter the workforce, so the degree is not immediately necessary. However, I have a desire to obtain leadership positions when I return to work, and I know this degree will create opportunities for me to meet that goal in ways my associate’s degree does not.

I clearly remember the day I found my father lying on the sidewalk as he suffered from a stroke. I was barely a teenager when my father became ill. My family spent countless hours in the hospital, nursing home, and various doctors ' offices trying to learn what had happened to this man who was our pillar of strength. I recall how the nurses became his greatest advocate and always voiced their concern for him. In those moments I realized I had found my calling in the field of nursing.…

The news media seems to be shining a dim light on a bachelor's degrees worth. Of course, a bachelor's degree doesn’t guarantee success but it just might make the difference between falling in the working class or middle class and we should at least take the risk. “The decision not to attend college for fear that it’s a bad deal is among the most economically irrational decisions anybody could make in 2014.” (Leonhardt 103) Leonhardt strongly believes that we have nothing to lose when making the decision of whether college is worth it. Some experts shouldn’t be discouraging teens or adults going back to college that their bachelor’s degree may end up being worth nothing.…

Since an early age, I have always wanted to be involved with health sciences, and I have work as hard as I can to accomplish this dream. I was born into a Hispanic family, and raised in way that puts values ahead of money or economic status. I did not enjoy the luxuries that many of my friends had, but I was taught very strong principles. My father always taught me to work hard no matter what, weather it was for a job, school or a hobby. He always told me that I will encounter many rocks in my path, but that it would be up to me to stay behind that rock and let the rock defeat me, or I could just find a way to continue on my path until the next rock.…

Future Plans and Reasons for Applying for a Farm Bureau Scholarship Some kids play sports in high school. Others march in the band, star in school plays, or join the healthcare career training program. Me, I didn’t do any of those things, because, after middle school, I made the decision to devote my life and career to help better the industry of agriculture in the future. Thus, I didn’t spend my afternoons out on the field or on the stage in high school, I spent mine in barns, animal pens, and classrooms, as an avid member of both 4-H and FFA along with involvement in numerous other programs related to agriculture in the local community. Not trying to brag on myself, although scholarship applications like this are the place to do so, but the accomplishments I achieved in my youth career along with those I continue to achieve have led me to have one of the most decorated resumes…

A couple of years went by and I began to do PCW work for my mother 's parents.
