Elizabeth was born as the first daughter of Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville. She lived a quiet live as a child until her father died in 1483 and she went into sanctuary with her mother and sisters. She became the wife of the King and ensured stability to his rule as she in herself had a claim to the throne. Henry though had crowned himself King before marrying her as he did not want to share his powers with her. Henry's mother, Margaret Beaufort, also tried to keep Elizabeth from having any influence in political matters.
Elizabeth had several children, Arthur, who died aged 15 and was supposed to become King but never did, was born in 1486. In 1489 she gave birth to Margaret who grew up to become Queen Consort of Scotland. Henry VIII was born in 1491 and was heir to the throne. Elizabeth Tudor was born in 1492 and died aged 3. Mary was born in 1496 and grew up to become Queen consort of France. Edmund was born in 1499 and died aged 1. Katherine Tudor was born in 1503 and died a week later. Elizabeth died on her 37th birthday following an infection from the birth.
