1. What does your character want in the chosen scene?
Cassio predominantly wants become lieutenant again. He also wants to Bianca to stop being mad at him, and for her to copy the handkerchief pattern.
2. What does your character do to get it?
He begs Desdemona to approach Othello and further plead his case.
3. What obstacles stand in his way?
Othello thinks Cassio is sleeping with Desdemona, and Iago is on the sidelines urging Cassio to refrain from talking to Othello, and telling Othello all about Desdemona’s missing handkerchief.
4. How does your character really feel about what is happening in the scene?
He is very disappointed when Desdemona says that she is trying her best but it’s not yielding any results. …show more content…
Furthermore, during this speech he uses big and flowery words, and lots of enjambment. This underline’s the verse he’s speaking in, showing how his is in control and acting with propriety. He is also most likely to trying make himself sound more capable and sophisticated. On the other hand, when Cassio is speaking to Bianca he uses much simpler words, and speaks the first 3 lines with no enjambment. This shows one of his main character traits, his obsession with reputation. He very quickly switches from being extremely sophisticated with Desdemona, to much more rudimentary with Bianca, practically insulting her to her face. “Go to woman!” After Bianca blames him for finding a new girlfriend, which seems quite justifiable, Cassio insults Bianca, something he would never do to Othello or Desdemona, no matter how much they insulted him.

Alms (To fortunes alms) – Money or food given to poor people. Probably referring to the character trait of compassion, asking fortune to be kind to him. Other sources say this means to wait for what bounty fortune can bestow on a person.
Beshrew – Make a person wicked or invoke evil upon them.
10. How has this scene study process enriched your understanding of your character?
Firstly, by doing this scene study I fully realized how differently Cassio acts in situations that will benefit him, versus with people who cannot advance his social position. Furthermore, this is one of the few scenes where Cassio shows his true, unkind nature. Cassio has relatively few lines compared to Othello and Iago, though he does play an extremely important role in story development. Secondly, Cassio thoroughly demonstrates how much his reputation matters as he begs Bianca to persuade Othello to reconsider him being fired from his position as lieutenant. Begging does not seem to be a common occurrence for such an important man like Cassio,
