Less than fifty years ago slavery and segregation was apart of our nation's everyday life. The definition of racism is one race thinking they are more superior than another. In the United States of America, racism has been a huge topic among the people (“Glessner”). Racism is all over the news while some people think racism has died down others believe that it is still a problem today. Racism along with segregation is not only a thing between African Americans and whites but it is within all races in the world. Racism in America has died down over the years but it has not gone away completely. There are still many incidents in this world that show how we never moved on from years ago and still cling to racism. One racist thing in America …show more content…
For example in Australia nearly half of the people there feel that some ethnic groups don't belong there and they should leave("Fourteen Examples of Systemic Racism in the US Criminal Justice System."). Many people with ethnic backgrounds get harassed and are verbally abused in schools, colleges and even in universities. It’s harder for people with an ethnic background in Australia to get a job than for those who do not come from one. About eleven percent of people in Australia suffer from being excluded from social activities and workplaces(“The Hidden Racism of Young White Americans”). Things like this happened in the past that make people believe those who have a different race should not be in the same place as them. Take the Holocaust for example. Hitler separated the Jews from everyone else and took them to concentration camps where they were to be killed. He strongly disagreed with their religion and was racist just like how many people are today in our …show more content…
With no reason at all the police officer accused him of being a pedophile because he was near a park with children playing in it and told the man to get out of the vehicle for a pat down. When the man refused the police officer arrested him. There has also been many reports about how police officers are taking in African Americans and other races for no reasons at all. While whites are almost never took in for anything that they are.(“Racism in America.”) Overall because of one race thinking they're more superior than the other there has been racism in a various amount of things like sports and the law. Many people of different races find it hard to do some of the things whites can do. Racism may not be as big of a problem now then it was back then but it still lingers around and causes problems in today's
