Why make food choices any different? Types of meats, in particular, have become a concern in recent years based on if they are good for you or not. Because Americans are not the number one consumer of meats they are the leading exporter in thousands of metric tons in pork and beef exporting 1,098 in beef and just over 2,150 in 2015. (Kluger 35) This is great news for the American GDP in 2013 in which reported that business contributed about $800 billion dollars. But according to Jeffery Kluger “Political action committees and other advocacy groups contributed another 77.2 million dollars in which three-quarters of the money went to Republicans (Kluger 36). Not only are the meat companies benefiting so much from the high amounts of sales but so are politicians in which who we as citizens look for guidance based on their make and enforce Food And Drug Administration Laws.
In the case for those that would counter the argument into saying that eating red and processed meats don’t cause health issues. Nitrates are found in high concentrated amounts in vegetables that are naturally found in soil. But don’t get it confused nitrates that are found in meat are the same nitrates that are found in vegetables the two are still natural in which the body doesn’t know how to decipher between the two.
