The common subject that is portrayed in these two texts,“Red Umbrella” and “Migration” photograph is immigration, which leads to family separation. Even though, these two authors use some similar techniques to portray the central idea, they also used different techniques to express their feelings, to show how immigration can affect how people go about their everyday lives. Three techniques that are portrayed in both, Red Umbrella and Migration, is tone, figurative language and point of view. An example of tone is shown the quote, “My fear turned into anger.…

Moreover, we know that in the written discourse the storyteller makes the sense of what we read via his perspective. However, in the movie the writer of the original text vanishes, the director must depend on alternate apparatuses of the movie to replicate what was felt, reflected and depicted on the book. In adapting “The Masque of the Red Death” from page to stage, Roger Corman includes mush materials, for instance, romance and some Satanism scenes. The symbolism of the colour red is well-played in the movie. The montage showing the components of the two marriage pageants during marriage ceremony, like the dowry and the red palanquin, highlights the repetitiveness and excessiveness of of red, which originally denotes happiness and fortune in Chinese culture, but is now reversely connoting the tyranny of oppressive marriages in that dramatic context, according to Henderson, Martin and Amazonas (1999). Another side note is that this movie is also reflective of the ideology of blind filial piety, which requires…
