Learning is a continuous process that commences at birth. It evolves as we develop and utilize the early knowledge for later understanding. It is grounded in experience. Learning is done to understand a situation thoroughly. Lot of learning occurs by gathering information and from our own perception. A favorable physical and emotional environment is also a key feature for learning to happen. This helps the learner to maintain interest. Inquiry based learning stimulates the students to gather information, without prior explanation from the teacher. The teacher took special care in dividing the class into small groups for the activities; every group had at least one high level student or a technically skilled student, so that the groups could complete the task at a given time. I observed that this encouraged active learning. Physical attributes of the classroom such as the layout and climate also contribute to an effective lesson to happen.
Active learning, is one of the strategies, I would incorporate into my class. I would want my class to be a student centric, were the teacher is a mere facilitator. Students should be given the freedom and comfort to express. In such an environment I am sure that, even the slow learners will be actively involved, as they will be helped by the peer. Another key element, I would adopt in my class is differential learning method. Every category of students will be attended to, at whatever level they may be. I would employ regular formative assessments, feedbacks and evaluation. Technology will be used at its best, as students always look forward to innovative teaching
