Stupid Sweetness Analysis

Stupid Sweetness Preston and I have an interesting relationship. We could not be more different, but we also could not be more similar(paradox). He is more outgoing and loud, I am more quiet; he says his opinions and doesn’t care what others think, I am more reserved and like to please people. In contrast, we both act so stupid when we’re together, both have the same humor, and both have the best time together. One big moment does not define our relationship; instead, many different and special moments define the relationship between me and my brother. It all started on August 3, 2001— my birthday. I came into the world only three days before my brother’s fifth birthday, and my parents slapped a bow on my head and gave me to him as a present. …show more content…
His hug encouraged me so much(personification). Then he lent me his ears(metonymy) and helped me in any way that he could. I remember so vividly how sweet the look in his eyes was and I could tell how much he wanted to help me. Anyone that meets Preston knows that he is passionate to say the least. Passionate about his opinions; passionate about sports; passionate about what he loves(anaphora). Many people see this passion as a bad thing, or think he is too passionate, but when you get to know him, you see the sweet nature of his passion. He is passionate about his friends; he won’t let anyone mess with them. He is passionate about family; he protect his family in any way he can. He is passionate about what he loves because he cares for these things so much that he will do anything for them. Overall, I think the sweetest aspects of Preston are the little things. The fact that he makes it a routine to come in my room every day and pester me shows how much he cares for me in a stupid way. The fact that he is so incredibly protective of me shows how much he cares for me in a stupid way. The fact that he will act like an idiot with me shows how much he cares for me in a stupid way. The fact that he call me “Luc” or something dumb like “Moosejaw Humphrey” shows how much he cares for me in a stupid way. The fact that his nose twitches when he is waiting for me to laugh at what he’s saying because he thinks it is funny shows how much he cares for me in a stupid way. The fact that he has been my best friend for 16 years shows how much I care for him and his stupid

In Arthur's paper “Famine Relief and the Ideal Moral Code” he examines Singer’s paper on moral principles, in which Singer states that all humans are on the same level of need. Thus supporting one without the resources to obtain food is always more important than buying yourself luxuries. Arthur’s rebuttal to Singer’s statement comes in the form of what Arthur calls “Just Desserts”. Arthur defines “Just Desserts” as “the idea that sometimes people deserve to keep what they have acquired” (Arthur 500). This paper will analyze Arthur's argument for just deserts, and ultimately argue that it is a viable and important variable in creating a moral code.…
