An important rite of passage that has held the most significance for me is when I had gotten baptized and then took my first communion. Baptisms are important to the Catholic religion. Getting baptized means you are officially entering the Catholic church. Ordinarily, children get baptized into the Catholic church when they are infants, but my mother decided to have me baptized when I was eight years old. My parents, grandparents, and soon-to-be godparents were attending my baptism. It took a lot of mental preparation for my baptism and my first communion. I had to be informed about what baptism was and what it does, spiritually. I had learned that seizing the opportunity to get baptized meant I would officially be a part of the Catholic church as one of Jesus' disciples. My sister and I were baptized in a large, mesmerizing church. I recall I was wearing a nice white dress, and my sister was as well. When I first arrived to the church I was excited to finally get baptized. Before my sister and I …show more content…
The First Communion is a Catholic ceremony, which marks a child or adult's first reception of the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Before I had done my first communion, I had always wondered what the Eucharist tasted like and why it was important to take it. On the day of my first communion, I was going to same church I had gone to for my baptism. There was a mass being held where many other children, including myself, had to take our first communion. Hence, all the children were joyful and excited. Not long after I had finally done my first communion, my family and I went to a nice restaurant where we

Storytelling is a way to communicate to society in a way that creates a relatable instance such that the reader can see themselves, or a version of themselves, within the story. Storytelling also is a way to demonstrate the struggles of other individuals within a society that a reader my not experience directly, but can nonetheless gain a broader understanding of different struggles within society. Of the many different influential experiences I have had over the past years, the one that stands out to me the most as a true rite of passage was starting my first job as a lifeguard at Nassau Country Club. It taught me lessons like the true meaning of hard work, the the value of a day's pay and most of all, what it means to have someone's life in one's hands. These lessons were given to me through my own experiences, as well as by my boss, Dr. Dan Cavallo D.O, one of the hardest working men I know. It all began, however, with a huge stack of towels. On my first day of work, I was more nervous than I had ever been in my entire life.…
