Mrs. Rebecca Willis, RN-BSN (Registered Nurse) at Carteret Health Care (CHC) has five years of experience working in the Labor and Delivery Department at the hospital. Although having a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from ECU, she obtained special training in addition to certificates such as; CPR, ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation), Crisis Prevention, S.T.A.B.L.E. (Neonatal education program Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport stabilization care of sick newborns) certification, PCEP (Perinatal Continue Education Program), PACU (Post-anesthesia Care Unit) training, plus circulator training. Nurses have the job of not only having to support the mothers with their progression of labor; there is the health of the baby to consider. Keeping the mother plus the baby safe is the most important part of the occupation. Despite the fact, not everything works out sometimes a baby will be born “sleeping,” nurses must maintain professionalism to support the mother plus her family. Sometimes babies will be born addicted to drugs and experience withdrawals since the mother was taking drugs during her pregnancy. When someone is having a new baby, family and friends want to come and visit. With that being said the privacy importance is not only for the family, they are visiting, but as well for other patients. Sometimes a baby is born “sleeping” and the joys of others families celebrating can be devastating for the family that has just lost their child. The need for keeping happy families who are welcoming a new baby separated from a family who has just lost a baby is instrumental for their healing process. Some hospitals have implemented the “purple butterfly,” which lets staff and other families know that there has been a loss while trying to give them much needed
