As Creon become king he immediately created a new law and expected the people to comply. He felt power over Thebes, as if he could do and say anything he wanted to the people, Even death threats. In Creon’s mind, he is the only one who has control, you must obey or you shall be punished. His power was controlled by his pride ”Whoever is chosen to govern should be obeyed, in all things, great and small, just and unjust”_Creon’s belief on obedience is the ruler is the only person to follow, when he says the quote he is speaking about himself. The ignorant pride Creon has is affecting his decision making skills, he won 't even listen to his own sons reasoning. He is willing to kill his son’s future wife then show the people that he is wrong.“Do not believe that you alone can be right” According to Creon, he is the one and only person that is correct on any subject, that he should be the only one you show obedience towards. But when Hamion tries to talk to him about Antigone, Creon is threatened by what Hamion has to say. His pride is creating Creon to only think he is right. No one was holding Creon’s hand while he was dictating over the people of Thebes, nor did someone command him to create a law stating that you can not bury Polyneices or even pray for him,or willing to kill his own niece Antigone. No, Creon acted alone in all of his dreadful decisions. ”A good man yields when he knows his course is wrong and repairs the evil. The only crime is pride” As Hamien says this to Creon, he is telling him that he isn 't a good leader because he did not see the flaw in his ruling. “A good man repairs evil”, Creon has only created more. At any point Creon could have took a step back and realized his own mistakes and the wrong path that he took but instead he knew he was doing wrong and continued to be a dictator to his people.
