Arches are a semicircle made of stone and was supported at the middle. This help saved materials because it used less materials. The arch was supported by the keystone which puts force on the arch and not on a single point if it did that the aqueduct would have fell apart.
Another innovation that revolutionised the roman way of life was the via appia which was the first national road way. It help the public by make paths that help the roman travel different terrains. The road was made with a small sand and gravel and boulders and was paved using paving stones. The via appia affected the romans because it connected the roman empire. And allow the empire to maintain its power . The appia was the largest innovation of the roman empire it help by having soldiers able to reach different parts of the empire and the empire was united to overcome this
The final innovation that was built was the hadrian wall was a barrier to keep out the britain barbarian. The wall went across the britannia south border this helped keep the barbarians out because due to rugged terrain and cliffside. If they made it to the wall they had to climb around thirty feet and if the made it over the wall they had across a 100 ft ditch. they also had battle station every one hundred feet the also had forts for the roman to attack invaders if the overcame the obstacle there were also settlements because the soldiers wanted more of roman life style so there were all the amenities of a roman
