Very old Greek warriors became the premier warriors of their classical world. Through intense internal war fighting, they perfected heavy infantry strategies, and when they were united, they were able to defeat a (sudden, unwanted entry into a place) by Persia, the super-power of their day. The heavily outnumbered Greek warriors, called hoplites, used superior strategies, training and arms to defeat two huge (sudden, unwanted entries into places). However, the Greeks returned to their constant war fighting once their common enemy was defeated. Philip of Hellenized Macedonia, king of what the Greeks thought about/believed a (dangerous, wild person) kingdom to their north, learned and even improved the Greek's group of (possibly armed) people…
It was proof that even though some people did not agree with the harsh deaths as a form of entertainment, that Rome’s culture was so deeply rooted in violence and death that their voices did little to change Rome. Gladiatorial shows were also the bread and circus that held Rome together for centuries. “Public participation, attracted by the splendor of the show and by distributions of meat...” The city gave the Romans entertainment and free food. It was how Rome kept the 50-60 million people under control.…

The Western Roman Empire had many great accomplishments, and many great problems, all of these so called problems, are placed in four main categories; politics, economy, disease, and foreign invaders. The Western Roman Empire, it had many emperors, some of them were good and led the empire to great victories, but most of them were poor, lousy, cheap, and flawed and led them to great destructions. The lousy emperors inherited the throne but they lacked the ability to lead the Western Roman Empire and were mentally unstable to rule. Even though the WRE was a great empire with great accomplishments, it had no system in place to replace an emperor. The Praetorian Guard was being paid off by the legionaries to assassinate the emperors…
Each gladiator has a class such as those who were heavily armed and armored, those who were lightly armed and armored, those who did not have any weapons or armors, and the ones who fought in specialised combat or environment(www.tribunesandtriumps.org). There are many more types of gladiators but here are a few to name. These games were not fair to each gladiator because a heavily equipped gladiator could fight a gladiator with no armor at all. Even though a gladiator was heavily equipped does not mean he could win. With heavy armor the gladiator’s movement is slower.…
In shows, movies and games gladiators fight horrific battles against each other and till death. In paragraph 5 titled “Big Entertainment” it states “ Huge crowds gathered to watch these warriors battle to their death in amphitheater..” This shows that we believe that most gladiators would fight until they died. We believed that most gladiators were prisoners. In paragraph 6 the archaeologists did say “They were prisoners.”…
Gladiators embodied traits prized by the Romans; bravery, quest for glory contempt for death. For winning a single fight, gladiators could be paid as much as a Roman soldier earned annually. With additional wins, gladiators could purchase better accommodations within the school. Novice gladiators often made their first appearance in the smaller arenas around Rome. Before the fights, offerings were made to Nemesis, the Roman goddess of chance, fortune, and revenge.…
Aelia S.P.D. Lolliae I was wondering if you would like to attend the ludi circenses with me next week? There will be all sorts of events going on including the famous chariot races and gladiator fights. Did you know that these games occur roughly 10 to 12 times a year and are held by the emperor? The emperor holds them in order to distract the poor and unemployed from their miserable lives in the hopes that they won’t revolt against him. You know we’re unemployed so technically we could go to the games.…
After you completed gladiator school you had to take an oath. When in a gladiator fight the crowd could bet on who’s going to win the fight. The crowd could favor this gladiator for the other and place a bet. The longer the gladiators fought each other in the “ring” the more they got. The reason for this is because if the crowd bought seats with money and if the fight was only like 1 minute the crowd would riot and ask for their money back.…
There was not just one cause the downfall of the Roman Republic. Social and political problems, fast expansion, and corruption among the powerful had a huge effect on the fall of the roman republic. Some people say that the Roman Republic began in 509 B.C. with the end of the Roman monarchy in 27 B.C. One of the many issues that caused the falling of the republic was corruption in the government. Rome used to be democracy, Rome put power into the hands of many few (beard,2011). Only the rich could become in the senate, and the votes of rich people had more power than the votes of the normal people.…
Today I was able to attend the game between the lady Gladiators vs the Mission Pioneers. It was a great overall experience, because I don’t really go to my home town as much as I want to thanks to my hectic schedule, so it was a good experience. From the beginning of the game the lady gladiators seem to be overmatch real quick as they lost their first set 8 to 25. Coach Angie Garcia, try to motivate her team by giving them encouraging words to spark a fire in them. Me as an observer I can tell she was very aggressive coach the way she carried herself and the intensity and passion she had really grabs the girls attention and also got their respect.…
Rome was an empire that was founded off of the death and destruction of other empires. This capacity for violence by their empire is well known throughout history by all. Whether it was the Spartan army at the Battle of Thermopylae or the destruction of Carthage, the Romans are renowned for their violence. This sense of violence was also apparent in their cities as gladiatorial games quickly became a centerpiece for Roman society and history.…

Bright. I guess that is what the sun is, bright. The weather was a little warmer than where the Roman army and I had been whilst I was still a free man. But not as warm as my home. The new batch, my wife and I had just arrived and this was the first time I had ever seen Gladiators.…
