Sally Ride was the first woman to go to space on June 18, 1983. I think that she should have been the first person in the book because she inspired women to do what they want and don’t let anyone stop them. She has been an inspiration to young girls to do what people think is impossible. Her parents inspired her to explore, and that's how she found her interest in science. She founded her company, “Sally Ride Science” to pursue her long term passion. She and 5 women out of 8,000 applicants were selected for the first group of americans for space flight.

When she was selected she said, "It was made pretty clear the day that I was told I was selected to a crew.” She trained her hardest and did what she could to succeed and in the end she got
