How did the simulated experience of Sara Lin’s case make you feel?
Pain is an elusive and complex phenomenon. However, the simulation of Sara Lin’s help me understand the patient’s responses and factors affecting the pain experience.
Talk about what went well in the scenario.
I performed a focused pain assessment and in collaboration with the patient Sara Lin, I decided the most appropriate pain intervention. Therefore, I administrated pain medications such as acetaminophen, using safe techniques. Additionally, I provided patient education on incision care, signs of postoperative infection, activity restrictions, and surgical follow-up.

The patient has been stable however on scale of 0 to 10 of pain, Sara declared an intensity of 6. therefore, the priority problems are pain management and respiratory depression.
EBP/S What should be included in Sara Lin’s education plan to assist with her pain control?
Pain management is an important aspect of postoperative care. Considered the fifth vital sign, pain is defined as the sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage. Therefore, effective education must be provided to Sara for managing pain at home after discharge. This patient should be educated on medications that control pain such as analgesics and any other non-pharmaceutical way to relieve pain, such as music therapy and relaxation.

Sara Lin’s education plan related to postoperative incision care must include teaching of infection symptoms and when to notify the practitioner. I will teach the patient how to inspect and care for the wound, as indicated. In addition, I will inform Sara and family members of any activity restrictions, including activities allowed or to be avoided and the duration of the
