On 24Apr17 at 1430 hrs. I, Deputy Halbasch, was advised that Shawn Fugates was reporting observing two your girls walking along Hwy 71 in the area of his business & believed it to be suspicious they were alone.
I arrived shortly after, & located the girls walking southbound on Hwy 71 at blue number 48184 Hwy 71. As I parked the girls starting to job away from me, and returned when I asked them to come to me. I asked them what there were doing & they stated ‘they were looking for their parents.’ I asked where they came from & they did not know. Zach did not know how the supervisor during the recess time didn’t know they were unaccounted for. Both Lily & Isabelle stated they were walking on trails, ditches, & woods before they realized they were lost & did not know what to do. Both Lily & Isabelle said they were scared & did not want to get in trouble. At one point the girls stated they departed as their parents yell at them a lot for disciplinary issues.
Ami presented me with the girl’s information & parents’ names. I left 2 cards for the parents in the event I could not reach them. I departed shortly after & left messages with Shawn, Kelsie Kverno, & Heather Mistic. At 1941 hrs. I received an email from Heather, & when I checked my voicemail, Caio Cesolini & Kelsie wanted a call back, which was completed on 25Apr17 & they were briefed on the details.
The exact path the girls took when they were alone is unclear. Both girls were wet from the rain & wet grass, but uninjured. They did have some small starches on their legs, but nothing that required medical attention. No criminal charges will be filed. It is unclear how the girls departed the school property without being noticed or accounted for & they were both picked up by parents after I departed the school. No further action
