School Shooting Research Paper

On Wednesday, September 13, 2017, a young male from the small town of Rockford, Washington opened fire at the local high school. Parents were sent into a turmoil after hearing that there was shooting at the school, frantically trying to contact their children. Michael Harper, a sophomore at the high school, told the Associated Press that his classmate was obsessed with past school shootings. At the beginning of the school year, the young male brought notes and drawings to the school. This strange behavior was reported to the counselor and other school officials, who were then on high alert. Parents that were so frightened for their children, abandoned their cars in hopes of reaching the school faster. A mother received a call from her son just moments after he heard the shots, and stated that her son sounded so frightened. Within 15 minutes of when the shooting began, officials stopped the young male from causing any more harm. Parents were immediately notified that the shooting was over, and their children were safe. Harper and many other students were confused as to why the young male why he would do such a horrible act, and when asked about the shooters personal life, Harper stated, “The shooter had many friends and wasn’t bullied.” Brain Schaeffer, a member of the Spokane Fire Department, was not allowed to release any information about the shooter, whether it be his motives or his age. The police department later released a statement, informing the people of Rockford that one person was killed and three were injured but did not mention the ages of the victims. The injured children were immediately rushed to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital in order to treat their injuries fast and
