Sexual Arousal Analysis

Decent Essays
This weeks discussion about sexual arousal really intrigued me. I found it very fascinating to see the statistics of how many times people have had sex, how many times they masturbate in a week, and what kinds of sex people are engaging in. As I was watching the movie today, I found myself trying to calculate what percentage I would be apart of in certain topics of sexual arousal. For instance, I would be in the group of women who have given oral sex. Some of these statistics I was actually really surprised to see, like how many people have anal sex. I thought that this was more of something you only see on television. Personally, I have always thought that participating in anal sex would be very painful, and something I do not think I will

I found this to be pleasantly surprising and potentially beneficial to adolescents because I expected there to be none. This is important because The Social Learning Theory states that adolescent’s behaviors will be learned vicariously though observation and modeling of others. So, sexual risks and responsibilities concerns are very important to address. This shows that the overall pattern of the series involves some attempt to increase awareness regarding sexual health concerns and/or serious outcomes that can be a result of sexual activity. Something that could be harmful however to adolescents is how often sex is displayed on the show.…

Within an excerpt of James Kincaid’s Erotic Innocence, specifically a portion addressing the underlying sexualization of children, Kincaid claims that the sexual attraction of a child stems from less obvious examples of sexual objectification in the public. Although these examples of objectification appear to be taboo in today’s perception of discussable topics, these observations warrant deeper study based on the reservation when addressing the sexual eroticism of children. These feelings of reservation against discussing the sexual nature of children stems from the abuse against children, literary influences on the public, and ideas of attractiveness and innocence that classify childhood eroticism. Within this essay, the components of the…

Throughout the years we have seen how women all over the world fight for power through resistance. In the two readings, Uses of the Erotic: the Erotic as Power by Audre Lorde and The Romanc1e of Resistance: Tracing Transformations of Power through Bedouin Women by Lila Abu-Lughod we see how women talk about power and resistance and how both have one goal, rights for women. Audre Lorde talks about how the erotic is a power that has to do not only with sex but with the feelings of everything we do. She explains how, “The erotic is a resource within each of us that lies in a deeply female and spiritual plane, firmly rooted in the power of our unexpressed or unrecognized feeling.” Usually erotic is related with sex or pornography but she argues…

As depicted in the film by Kay and Arnold, many people believe that older couples sleep in separate bedrooms, avoiding any romantic interactions. While the idea is sometimes true, the majority of couples continue sexual activity regularly. According to one study, 73% of respondent who were between the ages of 57 and 64 were sexually active. While the study showed that sexual activity did decrease with age, 26% of respondents ages 75 to 85 still participated in sexual activity (Lindau et al., 2007). Kay and Arnold, unfortunately, were part of the 27% that did not continue sexual activity.…

For my human sexuality class, I was to conduct a sexual interview with an individual focusing on sexuality. We were to ask questions focusing on the individual’s attitudes and feelings towards sexuality and any misconceptions they may have held about sexuality. This activity also allowed the interviewer to become aware of their own feelings and attitudes about sexuality during the interview. I intentionally wanted to conduct this interview with a male, because asking questions around sexuality with males is an issue I am still learning to become comfortable with. Working as a family based therapist I have to ask questions surrounded around sexual activity, sexual trauma, and being to provide parents and adolescent with resources about sexual education.…

Throughout this class we have paid a significant amount attention and time on how sexual coercion altered women’s lives, socially, economically and politically. Within this paper I will be digging deeper, to examine how sexual coercion intersected with the culture of domesticity to structure the power for both African American women and men. More specifically, I will break down the political, social, economic citizenship implications that can be made towards black women and men, discussing how white men and women played a role in procuring this. Additionally, discussing how African American women resisted white violence and attempted to maintain their rights as citizens. Interconnecting these key questions and ideas, I will use the readings…

Sexy By Jhumpa Lahiri Usually when I’m looking for something new to read I go off of titles, I don’t read the reviews, I don’t read the blurb on the back, if the title catches my eye then I will more than likely pick it up and see what goes from there. So one day during my LIT 224 class I was going through the contents of our book and one story caught my eye, Sexy by Jhumpa Lahiri, I turned to the page the story started on and began to read. The story wasted no time getting someplace interesting, in the first page alone our heroine, who is named Miranda hears the story of a “wife’s worst nightmare”. She listens as one of her coworkers tells how her cousin’s husband had left her, he had found a new woman while flying back from a business meeting…

Being a part of a Human Sexuality course has definitely opened my eyes to many different topics and issues that are occurring around the world. I believe I have lived a very sheltered life after learning about some of these topics, because I hadn’t even heard of most of them. I liked to think I knew all there was to know about human sexuality simply because I understood sexual intercourse, STI`s, and using protection. But human sexuality involves much more than those three things. Three of the major topics that have made me really think about how uneducated I was in regards to human sexuality were sexual birth defects, gender identity and gender roles, and sexual assault.…

Ivie Eboigbodin Qualitative and Quantitative Pleasures Qualitative and Quantitative pleasures come out of Utilitarianism. Utilitarianism can often be thought of as dangerous and wretched because it allows for seriously immoral acts to take place. Utilitarianism argues for maximum pleasure to take place, but in doing so can allow such acts as rape, torture etc. Therefore many disregard the act because of its possible immoral acts that could take place. However the Philosopher Mill has come up with two different levels of pleasure, qualitative and quantitative, to determine which acts are worth pursuing.…
