Sherwin's Emotions In Bravo And David

Bravo and David use personification to portray Sherwin's emotions towards his crush, Jonathan. In the beginning, Sherwin sees Jonathan and his heart begins to pump faster and harder as if it wants to get out of his chest. As Sherwin struggles to calm down his heart, it jumps out of his chest and happily points at Jonathan to follow him. The heart beating fast portrays people’s uncontrollable emotions and desires toward their infatuation. Sherwin’s uncontrollable emotions are relatable to developing teenagers because, in their stage of development, many teenagers lack the ability to control their emotions that they freely express themselves without any thought. The scene is an understandable figurative and literal representation of people, who can’t suppress their emotions in the presence of their crush. From a young age, many cliche films and shows would incorporate the idea to “follow your heart” in which, the creators showcase it by establishing the heart as its own figure. Sherwin act of suppression provokes the LGBT’s sympathy because they have had experiences resentment from society on same-sex romance. In the end of the short film, the protagonist’s crush holds the protagonist’s hands to mend his broken heart and make it whole
