Countries and cities everywhere are trying to ban the sale of plastic water bottles for many different reasons. Some reasons are for health environment and more, but is the ban worth it? I believe that states should start banning plastic water bottles.
My fisrt reason I think we should ban plastic water bottles,even though people are recycling, it isn’t enough for how much plastic water bottles we buy, The author, Katy Steinmetz wrote, “""[The bottles] are not being thrown away They are being recycled." While that's not true of all bottles in the Bay Area, San Francisco is ahead of the average American city -- about 13% of plastics are recycled nationwide.” Scholastics article , Bottles, Be Gone also states, “About four out of every five …show more content…
In the article, This Edible Water Blob Could Replace Plastic Water Bottles by Olivia B Waxman she says, “This blob-like container called Ooho! is made through a process called spherification, which shapes liquids into spheres. “The water is frozen as ice, making it possible to create a bigger sphere and keeping the ingredients in the membrane and out of the water." And it reportedly only costs two cents to make.” This product only cost two cents to make and it doesn’t need to be throw away, but this idea isn’t the only one. Glass water bottles are trying to be used in hotels, in the article Message in a Bottle by National Geographic Traveler states, “The idea is for every hotel to filter its own water in REUSABLE GLASS BOTTLES, sell it to guests, and donate 10 percent of the proceeds to support clean water projects," explains Sonu Shivdasani, co-founder of Whole World Water and chairman of Soneva Resorts. Benefits are far-reaching: no pollution; no toxins created from manufacturing plastic; and funds going to solve a problem plaguing the world's poor.” This is a great idea but some people may disagree about my argument.
