Mrs. French,

I hope you are feeling well today. I am sending this report by email as my handwriting is very hard to read. The first block class was very loud. I asked the students to talk quietly with their partners as they worked. Several students would converse loudly to others across the room regarding matters unrelated to the assignment.I began putting a check by the students name when I had to remind them to refrain from talking loud and from talking about issues unrelated to their math assignment.

I feel the following students should receive DPS points for excessive talking: Deontae Feemster, Maria Segura, Chakayla Charles, Jaimi Oliver,Kierra Nelson, Chauncey Young, Rebecca Perez, & Jamar Meredith.

Rebecca Perez claimed that I bumped her foot as I walked by her desk. She then got up and left the room. I asked her to talk to me as she was leaving, but she just kept going ,saying I have to go to the nurse. I believe the nurse was out sick. At 9:21Rebecca asked if she could take a small carton of milk back to another teacher. I asked to wait until class was over. Rebecca said in a quiet voice in ,response to a comment from Maria Segura ,’ll bring my whole fu**ing family up here.”

Another student , Rebecca Perez, was unable to work a particular problem. I sat down and worked the problem and then explained the problem the problem to Rebecca. It took a few minutes for me to work remember how to work the problem. While I was working on the problem, Maria commented that the problem should not take that long to work in a tone that would not be used in friendly

When you arrive at the library at the beginning of your off-period, you expect to leave about an hour later with a significant amount of work accomplished and with seldom left to do that night. However, in the library, there are people with the goal to cause a ruckus and prevent everyone around them from getting their work done. During the period, the librarian yells at least ten times about how loudly everyone is talking and how if the volume is not lowered, silent study will begin. You leave the library with not as much done as you had hoped. Thankful for the brief moments of silence, you proceed to your next class.…

McLean’s English classroom, I was immediately greeted by shouts of joy and hoots from the students in the class, and it took about 5 minutes to get the students’ undivided attention. The desks of the students were set up independently and positioned to face the board of the classroom which showed a body paragraph that the class was writing as a whole. The learning taking place in the classroom was very interactive and very much guided by Ms. McLean’s analysis of the book. It was surprising to see students wearing headphones and using their electronics in class; something like that would have triggered a social drama back when I attended BLA (Turner, 1976). The breach, which does not always escalate to a crisis, would have been identifying a student using headphones and/or a cellphone during class.…

I appreciated the observer noticed: Anne noticed that I have become more confident in my teaching which was something I did not ask her to watch for during her observation. This meant a lot to me that she noticed my growth and the student’s growth. She said the reason why my explanations were so clear was because of my confidence. I have been struggling this semester with having confidence when I teach in tutoring and during practicum. It definitely comes and goes.…

I also like the visual technique with the use of color cards to let the classroom know what an appropriate level of discussion is.…

Laying down, yelling, running through the classroom are examples of relaxed behaviors. It was noticed that boys were allowed to do more relaxed behaviors. Boys are more likely to demand attention, by calling out answers or talking about irrelevant comments which the teacher responds. During my time with the fourth graders, I took a closer look at the solid behavior classroom supports being used. Along with these supports, I was extremely impressed by the way Mrs. Flinn handled classroom management. Even though I observed during a very exciting week, she had great control over her students.…
