The Food You Know No More
You cannot buy happiness, but you can buy a bowl of ice cream and that's kind of the same thing. However, what if that same ice cream bowl wasn’t all ice cream? What if it was genetically modified? Would that bowl of ice cream still be that same source of happiness as it always has? The idea of food being genetically modified has been a hot controversy topic for many years now. Many will answer the previous question with a no. To them, an sort of genetically modified food is harmful, potentially dangerous, and quite disturbing. Others reply with a yes saying that it has been done for many years and is a way to progress in our technological advancements. Genetically modified foods are unethical, disgusting, and a bomb waiting to explode.

GM foods are foods made from organisms that have had their genes altered in a way that doesn’t occur naturally (Investopedia, 2016). Genetically modified organisms are the most successful present way to create an organism that has desired traits. GM foods are created for ease either for the farmer who has to grow the crops and/or the person who has to buy and eventually eat it. For example, food could be cheaper and/or have greater benefit, such as more nutritional value. Another example of why foods are genetically modified is to protect crops from environmental factors. Genetically modifying food can be simply put as a cut and paste process. Researchers must first find a trait in an organism that can help another organism survive or better produce.
