There are actually a few examples of this that I can recall from the past quarter, one was when I introduced myself to another in one of my classes, in which myself and they became acquainted. The second example of this was when I needed to take my student I.D, I of course at first tried to figure out where it was myself, since I tend to not like speaking to others unless necessary. So with the knowledge I gleaned from general information I could find I knew I needed to go to the library, in which I did, I was also vaguely aware that the area I needed to go to was on the lower …show more content…
I eventually got up to go to the bathroom, in which when I returned he had moved so his back was against the wall, he then explained to me how the sound of my eating the tangerine was bothering him and to please not chew that close to his ear again. I already know that Dennis has a few ticks about the sound of people chewing, but I had forgot, in which sometimes when I remember or he reminds me I get self-conscious about eating around him. We then had a little heart to heart about my getting self-conscious when he mentions those things, in which he also explained that he understood that it was just a little tick of his, so I have no reason to be self-conscious but to just please not do that again. Although, this was a seemingly ridiculous little discussion or why would on of our feelings be hurt, I see it as even with the little things we make sure to discuss our thoughts and feeling openly so that we have a better understanding of each other and so little things do not eventually become big things.
Throughout this quarter I feel that I have used these skill builder concepts in my personal life and with my academic life, so to speak. Some of these concepts I was familiar with, but I did not know I was until taking this course, in which I do feel that I am a pretty good communicator, particularly when it comes to understanding
