The Beautiful Game, God’s Game, Football, Soccer, and many, many other names it goes by but this sport is much more than a game, it unites people all around the world no matter what color their skin is or what religion they practice or from what country they come from. Soccer is a way for different communities to get along with each other, to reconcile after a war or tragedy as this sport is all about love and respect for one another. Every time I step into a pitch i feel a sense of unity with everyone in that field teammate or not. Well, this is how the beautiful game got started.

This revolution started in the 1950s thanks to Edson Arantes Do Nascimento AKA Pele, most times hailed as the greatest player to ever step onto a football pitch. He has the record for most goals ever in a single career with over 1200 goals in a career spanning over 21 years and over 1300 games played and 3 World Cups won with his home country of Brazil. This was one of the best eras soccer had graced yet with lots more rules being implemented into the game. It was a period of some of the most remembered events in soccer’s long history. The infamous “hand of God” by Maradona marked the history books and baffled people on how a 5’5 midfielder could win a header vs a 6’1 English goalkeeper. The 90s were dominated by the french and brazilians. This was when my favorite player of all time came to be; Zinedine Zidane. He was a complete Maestro on the ball, a wizard disguised as a soccer player, a true god on the ball. Ronaldo, Romario, Thierry Henry, Hugo Sanchez, Figo, Ryan Giggs , Eric Cantona, Iker Casillas Xavi Hernandez Paolo Maldini, Franco Baresi, Gianluigi Buffon and so many more soccer legends bloomed during this period of craziness. Oh the 2000s my favorite era yet, as soccer became so much more than just a European league sport as the Mexican, Brazilian, and American the soccer league all were shown the spotlight thanks to the Club Word Cup established in 1999. This era was mainly marketed more and everything started to look better and more technology was added to the game. the best players to come out of here were Raul Gonzalez Lionel Messi Wayne
