Most teens, use the internet to take advantage of social, and can often find themselves in trouble, as most teens use some form of social media every day. The daily use of the internet, has led an addiction of social media by many teens. It can be used on desktops, laptops, cell phones, and a wide variety of personal electronic devices. Some of the dangers of the dangers include predators, bullies, lack of communication, and mental health issues. As a result, the use of social media is not desired for teens.
Predators can now hide behind social media by simply using a screen name and setting up a profile. Predictors can create a profile, pretend to be someone they are not, set up meetings, and convince teens to participate in sexting. After gaining access to an unsuspecting teen via social media, predators often coax teens into participating in sexting. Research suggests that approximately 20% of teens have admitted to texting nude photos or posting graphic videos of themselves.
