What is social pressure? The direct influence of peers, or the effects of an individual who gets encouraged to follow their peers. Some examples of social pressure would be your friends saying “you have to get/try this!” or “this is the best thing ever!” Anything that they find an interest in. What in today’s society do teens need to have to stay attractive? How does this affect the self esteem of someone? What did my peers and adult friends have to say about their body? Can you stand up to peer pressure? These answers shocked me, and made me rethink about other people and their thoughts about their body.

I believe a teen can never have anything to become or stay “attractive.” The only things in life people need is a personality, that's attractive to everyone! I never make my friends based on what they are wearing when I meet them, it's always on how they act towards me. If their personality stands out to me then of course i'm going to keep them as a friend, they don't need nice hair, or the most expensive clothes. How does this affect the self esteem? Self esteem is a major factor in life, I believe most people are never going to become happy with their own body image, due to magazines and icons. Magazines show girls who are a size 1 or girls who are really pretty with makeup and Botox. How does this affect my self esteem? I can understand they go through a tough lifestyle, to stay that little, or they have to be monitored with food and drinks, so this doesn’t bother me, i was told at a young age, weight shouldnt matter, you shouldn’t change for anyone, “If they don't like you at your worst, they don't deserve you at your best.” As far as other women in today's society, I am imaging it to be very hard. Going back to the model’s and icons, girls want to become or look like their favorite famous person and they can’t if she’s a size 0 and I’m a size 8. How can I overcome my self esteem? Here are a few ways I got from Teens heath, Manage your inner critic that’s factor number one, Focus on what goes well for you, View …show more content…

DId they feel pressure to meet a certain expectation of beauty or manliness? Five out of six said yes they felt like they need to meet standard in life of beauty or manliness. Do they females diet frequently? Three out of four said they don't diet frequently, or as frequently as they would like to. Would the men consider taking supplements to build muscle two out of two said no they wouldn’t. If they could visit a plastic surgeon and have work done for free would they, three out off six said they would and even asked if you knew anyone. These answer surprised me, mainly the teens who responded, I expect more teens to say they could diet, or take a plastic sergeon when most the teenages said they kind of fine with their body, or just not willing to change to make it better for them. As for me I have been having issues with my body lately, and I try to go on a diet to help, but as for a family and a boyfriend who feels the needs to buy or make desserts, they are making it very hard to stay on this diet. I have cut back on serving size as well to help contribute to the weight lost, but I need to watch the sweets as

Each day in Australia, 15 people die and 240 people get admitted to hospital due to alcohol related incidences (Santow, 2016). This equates to 5,475 people each year in Australia alone, who’s lives could have been saved if they had not taken part in the risks of alcohol. Binge drinking and risk-taking behaviours are influenced heavily by peers and the pressure they put on those around them. Today’s teenagers are finding it more difficult to say no to risky behaviours, as the fear of being socially discluded, and the want to ‘be liked’ is overpowering the safe educated decisions that teens should be making (Kids Health, 2016).…
