From the first time I heard about the ACE program I was interested in being a part of it because it seemed like such a unique program and it offered an early college experience. I think it will be a very good experience for me and it will help prepare me for college. I was looking to get some college credit and I wanted to take advantage of the opportunities my high school presented to me and this program really appealed to me. I try to push myself to do the best that I can to help prepare myself for my future and this program offered an early college experience, college credit, and it’s free; these factors have pushed me to go for this program.…
I think of myself a good candidate to partake in this program as I’m in all honors classes for my school plus my four magnet classes, and my one Ap class of World history. With all these classes I’ve accomplished staying in my school top grade of Principal List for 90 above all classes per marking period. While also being a student-athlete, I’ll swim 2 and a half hour a day after school. Regardless of the homework given or test I’d find the time to accomplish it all, and get the grade to prove it. These are all things I want to do, things I've wanted always get my 100 % effort.…
Through the Upward Bound Math and Science program I have learned many things. This program has gave me the knowledge and experience that would help me be successful in my next level of education. During this program the counselors hold a personal level with you which is very helpful because you do not feel like a burden when asking questions or suggesting ideas. They really like to know what it is that you want and need to be successful. During the summer the program holds a summer long college readiness camp at the local Community college and also internships with local businesses through out the community depending on your interest of work.…
NYC Ladders for Leaders will allow me to work with multiple types of engineers to build and modify projects for my potential employers and experienced managers. The internship will introduce me to my senior year Capstone courses, in which engineers work together to create devices, based on the projects provided by their teachers and mentors. I hope the program will give me experience for my digital media art minor and computer engineering major. I know the program the skills obtained from the program will provide me with a better understanding of my future art and engineering classes. During my previous service clerk position, I utilized visual memorization to guide customers to their desired items quickly.…
The National Honor Society is a society to recognize the students that have an excellence in areas such as scholarships, volunteering, leadership, and character. This group is not just a club to say you were in when you were in high school. This society is for people who truly believe in what the society believes in and what they do for the community. This Society also is a gateway to many new experiences for many people. If I am selected to join this program, I hope to contribute to this program by bringing many ideas about how to help with the community.…
I have applied to Saint Ignatius College Prep for several reasons. One reason that I applied was because of the diverse community that exists within the school. Even though there are hundreds of kids per grade, everyone seems to know each other and everyone gets along very well. While I was shadowing at the school, I experienced this first hand. Even though I was not a student at the school, everyone treated me as if I was one, as if I wasn't there for only one day.…
You can feel more confident, boost your concentration and improve your focus. Before long, you can start your journey toward a more successful career or a better school…
This program is a unique opportunity unlike typical semester long Spanish courses. The ability to focus solely on Spanish multiple hours a day, five days a week is something that would benefit me greatly. I thrive best when I am immersed in a subject, especially when it comes to learning a new language. This program would offer me the best environment and an abundance of resources to build a strong foundation of knowledge for future Spanish courses. The greater level of proficiency I am able to gain now the better prepared I will be when taking more rigorous Spanish courses in my college career.…
“With great power comes great responsibility” being the oldest of nine I have an abundance of both responsibility and expectations to uphold. One thing that was stressed was the importance of giving back to those that come after me. Over the last three years I have done many things that help those around and in my community. One of the most recent events was during the summer during “Gospel Music Workshop of America”. The next event occurred after that was also in the summer in Brooklyn.…
The reason why I would like to be part of the Academy of Enrichment and Advancement is simple. Since the AEA is a STEM-based school, I believe the academy will prepare me for a future relating to medicine. Ever since I was young, I have always wanted to follow a profession in medicine because I have always had a passion for helping people. The next reason why I decided to apply to the school is because I believe the school will get me ready for college. I know the AEA focuses on college and readiness…
At Mid-East it is very important to reflect on the program as a class. Each class that graduates is contacted by their program instructor. This happens about six to nine months after they have graduated. At first I personally didn’t think much of it and thought it was just another task to do, not anymore. I now take this very seriously and also bring it up to my students during the time they are in the program.…
Believing it could be a life changing experience, being accepted into the Incentive program is very important to me. I would be around dedicated students who want to be at school and enjoy going deeper with their thoughts. The benefits I see in the Incentive program are the opportunities I would have. Some examples are the extra field trips, unique and fascinating projects and the independence that comes with it.…
This semester for class instead of reading I chose to work at Beaver Falls elementary school service learning program called Dare2XL. The objective of this program is to help students finish their school work, help them understand their homework and what they are doing in class, all while encouraging the students. Going into the program not knowing what to expect or how to help them, or what I was helping them with, made me nervous and scared. The first day was a little stressful but as we were paired up with one student I was relieved and it wasn’t bad at all. I was paired up with DJ a fourth grader, we worked on his math homework and did extra problems that he was going to learn the next day.…
A BRIEF STATEMENT REGARDING MY PHILOSOPHY OF MANAGEMENT : My understanding of management philosophy is more like a mission statement about myself and how I will apply it in managing a business entity or an organization. I will describe my management style to be one, that is sort of aggressive. I am very willing and able to get into details in order to for things to be done when necessary.…
Volunteering at Little Light of Mine has continued to be a positive and rewarding experience. I continue to be impressed with the overview of the program and have learned a tremendous amount these past couple of weeks. The hands on experience I am having is truly remarkable. I have learned that the profession of social work greatly needs hard-working and devoted people. Looking professional and speaking professional are two very important key elements.…
