My nursing plan is to obtain my ASN degree and continue to work at Billings Clinic but transfer into PACU as an RN. I would like to work in PACU because it will give me the critical care nursing skills I desire to achieve, as well as a good place to begin my nursing career for experience. I like the idea of taking care of patients who are coming out of surgery and require extra care before they can go home or to a hospital room for overnight stay. As a nurse with an ASN degree my roll would be the same as most of the nurses on a hospital floor; although, in addition to the ASN I would need to obtain my critical care certificate to work in PACU. I am an avid student at Coldspring High School: first in my class, captain of the Trojanette Drill Team, and Clarinet/Flute section leader in the band. As I opened the door to my house from a long day of middle school, I heard my mother crying. Before I could even see her, I knew what had happened, it had happened many times before, she had an asthma attack and struggled to communicate to the doctor due to English not being her first language. Every time she visited the doctor she struggled to communicate leading to an extremely stressful situation. When possible I went to the doctor with my mother, however, that was difficult at times.
