Stephen king in his essay “Reading to Write” is very specific on what he wanted to accomplish and he accomplished this by finding himself within others. What King wanted to find within others was their tone of voice on paper. He would read other work and would criticize every detail about it, criticizing other work helped him decide on what he liked and didn't like to be included in literature. The very beginning of Stephan King’s life he learned how to write by reading. He expressed on how being a good author consists of two things, reading a lot and writing a lot. There is no way around these two items and these are beliefs that not only Stephen King believed in, but Sherman Alexie as well. Sherman Alexie described how his passion was fueled by reading others work. Whenever King read a book, he not only had a stand on the outcome of the book, but the style that the author had. An example is while Stephen King was reading a fiction book, the author kept using the word zestful, King was so repulsed by this word that he swore to never use it in his own work, and he didn’t.
