Style Analysis The style of this writing is very important because it is going to set the tone for the piece of writing, if it's going to be a serious piece of writing, a goofy piece of writing, or a informative piece of writing. The style of this piece of writing makes it seem as if the speaker was referring to the past memories that she has in her mind and then showing how those events has affected her. The diction of this writer is very interesting because it is as if she was talking to a companion of hers. This piece of writings style makes it seem as if you were there as the events as they unfolded. Another thing that should be noted in the style of this piece of writing is that the author chose to write the events in chronological order. …show more content…
The father loves to go hunting with his daughter's twin sister, but the main character isn't really into guns and hunting so she decides to not really tag along when the family would decide to go on activities that have to do with guns. This difference is also shown at the time when the main author was eleven and they had recently moved into a new house. The father heard a noise outside his home, grabbed his BB gun and started shooting at the crows. The fathers defense for his actions was that shooting crows is a national pastime just like baseball and apple pie. The main character states that she prefers just to have apple pie and baseball. With that comment that she made she clearly showed that her father and she do not share the same idea as fun, for two people to be considered the same person they have to share a same idea of what they consider …show more content…
The daughter supports the democratic party while the father supports the republican party. By supporting different parties that means that they both have different beliefs on how the country should be ruined. For two people to be considered the same they have to have the same priorities in their minds. A great example that shows their different beliefs was when Walter Mondale chose Geraldine Ferraro as his running mate and the daughter posted a picture of it on the refrigerator door. But mysteriously the paper ended up in the other side of the room in the trash. The daughter claims that one similarity that they have is that they both support the constitution. But they both support different parts of the constitution. The daughter heavily supports the first amendment, but the father supports the second amendment. They both have different political beliefs and that is what sets them apart. Another way that the father and the daughter are both different is in the things that they are passionate about. The father is passionate about guns that is obvious because he is a gunsmith, working with guns is his profession. While his daughter is passionate about art. An example of this is that the father spent most of his time in the garage making rifle barrels while the daughter will stay in her room reading Allen Ginsberg

Steel Magnolias is my favorite movie. This movie reflects the daily lives of six southern women with different personalities and careers. Being a southern girl I could see myself in one of the characters. M'Lynn, Truvy, Annelle, Claree, Shelby and my favorite Ouiser all had a unique personality but are alike in so many ways which is the love they have for their families, one another, and the support for each other during family crisis. They laughed together, cried together and even made jokes about one another but as friends they always made the best out of all obstacles that crossed them rather it was a happy occasion or tragic.…

Through skillful use of setting, moral issues, and conflict, Campbell creates a fascinating story centered on familial ties and gun control. Conflict and setting help to illustrate the interesting relationships between the father and the two sisters. The narrator has a special connection with her father, as he had taught her to shoot when she was only ten years old. This special yet slightly tough-natured relationship is reflected in the setting where the bulk of the story takes place: on the family farm.…

The Good Father’s When reading two stories do you ever notice the similarities, each has in common? Most times readers relate stories to how different they are from one another. Throughout history the matriarch of the family and her relationship with other family members have played a large role in the direction of the family. Such a principle is exhibited in Flannery O'Connor's short stories; O'Connor's utilization of the matriarchs and their relationships with other characters helps to more thoroughly develop all characters within the plot. O’Connor’s usage of the Grandmother to develop characters in "A Good Man is Hard to Find" is much more effective than her usage of Mrs. Hopewell in "Good Country People" due to better overall characterization of the matriarch, juxtaposition of the antagonist's personality in regard to the matriarch's personality, and emphasis of the negative effects caused by the oppressive nature of the matriarch. The matriarchs in both stories are characterized primarily by, and are highly similar in, their superiority complexes, hypocritical personalities, and relationship statuses; whereas they differ in their means of oppressing their way…

This information helps narrow down who the poem may be about. Trethewey goes on to say that the rifle is “your grandfather’s” and that she’d “inherit” it which suggests to the reader that the rifle is a family loom. Making this connection helped me come to the conclusion that the rifle belonged to her father, so the poem must also be about her father. From this point, I was able to make the connection that the rifle had a great importance to her father’s life. It was kept in his study among his…

Research Essay on literature contexts and themes of the both stories “A Good Man is Hard to find” by Flannery O’Connor and “The Tell-Tale” by Edger Poe have several areas of contrast and similarity. One of the aspects that portray this relationship is the many contexts (Historic)and symbolism in which the stories were written, which explains how it impacted their creation and their featured themes. “The Tell-Tale Heart” is typical of the macabre themes for which Poe became popular. The book is part of the American Gothic Literature which was characteristic of the 19th Century and focused on the human existence through supernatural horror, madness, irrationality, and guilt. “A Good Man is Hard to Find” on the…
