In the second chapter, the reader gets to know that Sadako has a best friend, named Chizuko. Both were best friends since they were little and are really close. Nothing could ever hold them apart. Quote: “The two had been friends since kindergarten. Sadako was sure that they would always be as close as two pine needles on the same twig.” p.15. When Sadako’s family was finished with their breakfast, they went all together to the carnival. Like always, Sadako ran ahead and was the first there. Her mother wasn’t surprised by that, because she knew that Sadako always wanted to be the first. Quote: “Sadako is always in such a hurry to be the first that she never stops to listen.” p.16. Sadako ran to her Best Friends house and picked Chizuko up. She told Chizuko on the way to the carnival, that she remembered the Thunderbolt from the Atom Bomb exactly and she also could still feel the hot heat on her face, as if it would happen again. Chizuko reminded her that she was still a baby and it isn’t possible to remember it at all. Quote: “There was the flash of a million suns. After the ceremonies were over, the carnival finally began and immediately Sadako ran to the cotton candy stand. “When the ceremonies were over, Sadako led the others straight to the old lady who sold cotton candy.” p. 18
After a day, which passed like always way to quickly, the fireworks came and everybody enjoyed them. Mr. Sasaki lighted a candle for each family member six candles. After the great day, Sadako lay awake for a long time and came to the conclusion that the spider truly brought
