Performance of Jharkhand and its neighbours in 2015 National Games:- Haryana: Where are they getting it right?
Haryana is responsible for 2 out of India’s last 9 Olympic medals. The government policies have largely been responsible for Haryaya doing well in Sports.
Talent Spotting: The Governement launched the “Play 4 India” Initiative which was aimed at young boys and girls honing their skills and developing their talent. Under this initiative a Sports and Physical Aptitude Test was conducted (SPAT) in all schools among athletes of age group 8-14. Based on their results in the test, a sport was allocated to the young boys and girls. These 5000 kids identified are then supported financially and provided with training.
Infrastructure: To support the development of Sports in India Schools to train athletes, Centers for Excellence for specific sports, stadiums with full time coaches, Sports Complex in every district, Sports library and R&D in Sports Medicine are built across the state.
