Technology In Workplace

Ty Howard once said, “To fear change is to fear being challenged. To fear being challenged it to fear growth and new possibilities.” Technology is evolving every single day. It is constantly changing the way you do your everyday job. It allows humans to do more in smaller amounts of time. At the age of 17, I alone have witnessed a flip phone that could barely call anyone evolve into a thin, touch screen device that can answer almost every question you have with the click of a button. Technology is changing the way jobs are done and what skills are needed to complete the job efficiently.

It can lead to increased productivity and efficiency. Employees have more time to do their work and more of it. That being said, it is vital that employees keep their skills up to par with the evolving technology. If you do not know how to use the technology, then it is no good to you (Dukes). Robotic surgery also is typically less invasive. This means that the patient will have a better recovery with less pain and smaller scars. Another benefit is that doctors have a better view with the help of the robot. The robot is capable of zooming in very clearly (The Mayo …show more content…
Research has shown that technology has allowed law enforcement to achieve more in a day 's time than before. The software available for law enforcement has improved incredibly over the years. Law enforcement currently has access to tools that can trace a face or fingerprint in seconds ("New Research Shows Impact Of Technology On Legal Field"). That face can then be sent through a scanner that could possibly tell you where a person is right that second through a GPS. In addition, there are apps that you can download on your phone that are made for law enforcement purposes. Some apps are made to help police officers. One app is called Police Spanish Guide. It is free and can be downloaded onto your Iphone or Android. The app translates to the suspect everything from a basic traffic stop to domestic violence situations (Roberts). There are also apps that help people when they are in danger. An app called SafeTrek is an app made to help you feel safe while walking somewhere that makes you uncomfortable. The user holds down a button on the screen of their smart phone. If they let go of the button, your phone asks for a four digit passcode that was previously set up. If you type in that code, the app knows that you have made it home safe and sound. If the four digit code is not typed in, the police are contacted by SafeTrek and sent to where you are. Technology can also replace jobs in law

This information-centric strategy coincides with a move to devices and communications technologies capable of processing, displaying, and distributing this information in the most reliable and efficient manner. Obstacles to modernization—technical, cultural, and financial--remain substantial however, even as the costs associated with these technologies continue to fall. Nonetheless, recent events, such as the launch of the White House Police Data Initiative (PDI), highlight the importance of capturing, analyzing and capitalizing on data and information. By emphasizing smart policing, the federal government places pressure on communities to acquire new technologies that enable first-responders to make difficult decisions with as much information as possible. Modernization will inevitably be a slow and uneven process given the characteristics of the public safety industry, but the benefits to citizens and first-responders alike will be immense.…
