This fact can be proven because people around those ages, who drink and drive are 17 times more likely to get into a car crash. On top of that, it is the number one cause of death of teenagers. In the article, "Teen Drinking and Driving", studies for High School students have shown that they have been driving a vehicle one or more times when under the influence (CDC). While they're drunk they don't realize what they're actually doing, putting their life on the line. Binge drinking is having more than 5 alcoholic drinks in a few hours, in which 85% of teens who said they drink and drive also replied saying that they binge drink. On average, 4,700 teens are the victims of drinking and driving. What makes this more outrageous is the fact that all of those 4,700 deaths, is more than all illegal drug deaths combined. Drinking in general has its devastating disadvantages, such as, being drunk and hurting yourself, brain damage, getting addicted, or even suiciding. Drinking alcohol has all different impacts on people, for example, someone might be in their 40s and may not be having any problems. But for other people younger, it might be too strong for them, therefore they get some sort of health problem. At the same time, if people take it a step further and drive while being intoxicated, they would be putting their life and others on the line. Some ways to try and decrease and prevent the number of teens who drink, would be to have parents teach their kids at a young age to never drink alcohol under the age of 21. At the same time, try pushing for advertisements to stop targeting younger people. There should also be more educators in schools to help stop teens who drink. Communities should also enforce the Zero Tolerance rule, which is making it illegal for people under the age of 21 to drive after drinking. That might not seem like it will do much, but research has shown that it has reduced drinking and decreased car crashes. People should show more care to this issue because it can really impact the way most people live.
