Since schools and parents are not teaching students how to survive on their own, programs and organizations have been created to help the young adults who do not have a clue what they are doing with themselves. These types of schools have begun to make appearances in larger cities across the country. Rachel Weinstein and Katie Brunelle, the geniuses behind “The Adulting School” program, have created a way to teach young adults how to successfully live in adulthood (Weinstein and Brundelle). This program is based in Portland, Maine and is going to be offering classes in locations across the country within the next year. If a student is unable to take the classes face-to-face, they are going to be offered online classes which are categorized by the topic and lesson you are interested in learning. They upload new life skills lessons every month and allow you to view past lessons to learn things that have been taught before you joined the program. Their website explains that they offer classes anywhere from how to do laundry to how to budget correctly and keep track of your bills. Heidi Symonds, a teacher at the school, offers events such as “#Better Than Cocktails Happy Hour”, which is a new lesson that teaches balance and how to remain healthy (Weinstein and Brundelle). She often puts on events about how to prepare food and drinks that would allow you to feel better in your own body. Every adult should know how to clean a cut or scrape, maintain a healthy weight, and know which medicine to take if they are feeling sick
