Mannix has reached out to Mr. Robinson by saying, “In the very face of narrowness, unfairness, and stupidity, you have gone out on baseball diamonds, taken your bat in your hands, and made good.” This man previously has been noted as having a racist mindset, but I believe seeing a black man play along side of white men has changed his perception on segregation. On a larger scale another white man is standing up for the views Robinson portrays also. Robinson’s integration in baseball has led to president Truman having some remarks to say about the civil rights movement. The federal government has not appealed to congress regarding a civil rights endorsement since Reconstruction about 70 years ago.
