Ocean Beach may be known for its stellar surfing and savory foods, but it is also known for its historic buildings and architecture. One notable building is the Kraft Building which was built in 1927 for medical purposes. It was owned by Fred Kraft and housed a drug store that contained a soda fountain downstairs. It was also occupied by the historic Seaside grill, which was claimed to have the best pies in town. Rumor also has it that Charles Lindbergh was a common patron here.…

Jersey Shore was a popular TV show on MTV between 2009 and 2012 about “Guidos”, or Americans of Italian descent in their twenties who rented a house together on the Jersey Shore, which was aimed at teenagers and people under thirty. At one point, Jersey Shore became one of the most watched TV shows and I think it influenced some slang we use today. MTV is famous for making popular TV shows and sucking people in to watching them. They are really good at making reality shows.…

Surf n’ turf is the ultimate Sunday meal that would brighten even the darkest days of prison. A perfectly seasoned wagyu ribeye steak grilled to perfection and paired with freshly a caught lobster would make any stay more bearable. This dish surpasses all others because I love nothing more than red meat and seafood. The meal consists of a twelve once wagyu ribeye seasoned with salt and pepper and grilled to medium-rare, and a freshly steamed lobster fresh from the cold North Atlantic waters of Maine. A cut of steak more delicious than the wagyu ribeye does not exist.…

While the sun taunts me with a beautiful spectrum of crisp orange and bright pinks creeping over the horizon, I hurry to leave my grandmother’s beach house and head over to the serene beach. On my way toward the water, dogs are seen in the distance playing in the cool sand and sticking their paws in the salty water. In addition, from laying their eggs in the sand, are long sand trails from horseshoe crabs. Finally reaching the water, I sit down and observe the sun as it slowly creeps over the horizon until the many vibrant pinks and luminous orange rays turn into a solid golden beam of sunlight.…

During April of 2015, I stepped out of the car and onto the beach for the first time in Destin, Florida; the salty sea stung my nose as I breathed in a refreshing breath of briny air. The first step onto the sand was like a bed of blankets; soft and comfortable. The way the white sand glided onto my feet and squished between my toes felt like heaven. The waves were singing a delicate lullaby, pulling me closer to them. As I walk towards the ocean with the warm sand beneath my feet, the cold waves lap at my ankles, as if they want to take me away.…
