The Federal Communication Commission is doing everything they can to get everyone’s attention of how seriously dangerous texting and driving is. The FCC “is working with industry safety organizations, and government agencies” (Dangers) to educate people of America about this conflict. Even phone companies are trying to make a difference. One example is AT&T and their new app for the iPhone that turns off text message alerts while someone is driving- this app is called DriveMode. Also, anyone can avoid and help this issue. To set an example for the younger generation, do not use the phone while driving. If the young ones see another adult text while they drive, then they will do the same when they get older thinking it is ok. “Distracted driving endangers life and property and the current levels of injury and loss are unacceptable” (Dangers). Even though the United States federal government had not yet abolished the use of phones while driving, there are many states that have. They have passed laws that stating that the use of cell phones are not allowed while driving. The problem is that 82% of all teenagers in America have a cell phone. 52% of them talked on the phone while driving and 34% of them texted while driving. The laws need to be enforced more strictly and dangers of this issue should become common knowledge to everyone, especially for the younger
