One reason my supervisors excel at being a leader is how personable and caring they are. They truly understand the pressure of being a student so they strive for us to reach our goals to be the best people we can be. So, how do they accomplish this? They do this by challenging us to improve as a student and as an adult to become better people for our communities. We have bi-weekly meetings in which I talk about life goals, class goals, and my personal life; that mean a lot to me. With these meetings it gives me a since of belonging- it makes me feel like I have a purpose and it really motivates me to improve to become a better person. I just recently went on a leadership retreat and we discussed how important it is to be a leader with a passionate heart. As a leader it is important to understand whom we are leading or we will not get the highest possible outcome from them. For example, if I don’t understand the needs of my residents how will I be able to effectively do my job to ensure that their experience is the best possible.
