The United States of America currently has a building that almost replicates Roman architecture. That building is The U.S Supreme Court. Located in Washington D.C. built by Cass Gilbert from 1932- 1935 this building reflects a moderate amount of similarities to The Pantheon located in Rome, Italy. Some of the similarities are the elevation on a podium approached by fancy front staircase along with free standing columns located in the front of the building. When comparing them side by side you see Corinthian columns amongst both structures. “The choice of marble was deliberate to echo the authority of Greek and Roman formal architecture”. The mosaic art in a home represented the wealth and importance of the home owner. Mosaic art is a gathering of small painted pieces of stone in order to create a large picture. Mosaic art can be both very geometric and organic. There are some that include sharp lines, angles, spirals and symmetry. There is also those that are intensely organic. An illustration of an organic Roman mosaic piece is be the submarine fauna in the first century CE. Its is heavily organic in the sense that the images it contains are animals and creatures of the sea. The octopus, fish and serpents are all elements of nature. The use of orange and brown colors draw a connection to dirt and soil which are also very earthy thus making the art work organic
