Shortly after her story “The Awakening”, Chopin released another short story called “Regret.” This short story reflects on the motherhood aspect of her life. Chopin being a single-mother of six gave her a unique outlook on life. The story surrounds a woman whom has yet to fall in love and lives her life for herself. Suddenly, out in field not too far from her house, a woman with five children appear. The woman with the children asks her to watch the children for two weeks as she goes elsewhere.
