Due to the characteristics of the monster, Mary Shelley displayed how Victor was guilty of the killings that the monster committed. The monster truly did not know who he was because he was never told or never parented by his creator. The monster was speaking and stating, “And what was I? Of my creation and creator, I was absolutely ignorant, but I knew that I possessed no money, no friends, no kind of property.” (100). When on Monster says “I shall certainly find no friends in the wide ocean” (5) it should give you an idea that he is lost and cannot find help. The setting of a wide open ocean can add a lot of suspense because the monster needs to have friends and people to follow their actions because Victor is giving no direction. Shortly before the monster had been talking about “the whole village was roused; some fled, some attacked me” (87) and how he was better off staying away from humans. The monster was describing the village because he knew how bad people hated him. Then again it ties back into how a village of people attacked him because the monster wasn’t a real human being so he didn’t know
